Jenny Heaton was appointed as a General Governor in 2024. She grew up in Letchworth and continues to live here, where she works as an Archive Researcher.
She is the co-founder of Cool Cats Club, which hosts creative events and meet-ups aimed at cultivating the wellbeing, creativity, and social fulfilment of young adults in Letchworth.
She is interested in the ethos and aims of the early Garden City and its residents, and believes in preserving and encouraging this in present-day Letchworth, too.
"I grew up in Letchworth, and surrounded by friends and family role models who’ve been involved with events, culture and history of the town. I understand that I have an underrepresented voice in the Governance of the Foundation as a young queer woman, and I am keen to bring my contribution.
I take enjoyment from doing tangible things in the community – to feel a part of it, to improve peoples’ experiences in it, and get the best out of it. I returned to Letchworth in Lockdown after having lived away for work, and realised I wanted to stay and be a positive part of life here.
I feel that my voice and experience – and familiarity with the ethos of our town - could push forward the Foundation’s strategy, particularly its Culture Strategy and its 2026 aims, and complement how the Foundation meets the needs of everyone in the community."
