News from the Grants Committee

The work of Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation is steered by the vision, mission and six strategic aims which are outlined in Strategy 2028.  Key to the delivery of a number of the strategic aims is our grant funding work.  Our grants committee receives applications throughout the year, and meets bi-monthly to discuss applications and make financial grant awards.

The committee met in March 2025, and made a number of grants to a variety of organisations throughout Letchworth Garden City.

The committee was pleased to commit £12,030 over the next 18 months for Angels Support Group.  Angels will use this grant to provide 10hrs a week of community based support through a Parent Peer 2 Peer ADHD/ASD group, providing advice at Letchworth Garden City Church's weekly U5 SEND group, and running a series of six week family group sessions and attending events in and around the town to provide advice to parents.

£4,000 was awarded to Herts Sports & Physical Activity Partnership enabling them to run the Park Play initiative on the Creamery Playing Fields on the Jackmans estate. This event provides two hours of free family activities for children of all ages every Saturday enabling everyone to get active and learn new games.

Culture Wood CIC (pictured) received a grant of £2000 to enable them to run a series of nature based activities in Norton Common. The activities run for 2 hours each month and help connect people with nature, build networks and support general health and wellbeing.

£5,660 was granted North Hertfordshire African Caribbean Community to work with the Caribbean Harmony Group to build on the outcomes of the 'Forging a Family Project'. The project will be using textiles as a medium to capture social history through members stories and develop a piece of co-created clothing that will form part of an exhibition and reflection on the project later in the year.

We were pleased to grant £2000 to the Royal British Legion to enable them to purchase resources such as bunting that will enable Armed Forces Day to become more sustainable in the future. The group have volunteers lined up to deliver free arts and crafts sessions and the grant will also fund the arts and crafts resources.

The grants committee meets bi-monthly, and the next deadline for applications for grants is Monday 28th April.  If you know of any community organisations which would benefit from a grant, please direct them to Letchworth.com/grants
