The Heritage Foundation has appointed Mark Coles as its new Head of Property Services from 1 July.
Mark joins the Foundation from property and planning consultancy, Rapleys, where he has worked for the last 18 years. During this time he worked as a senior surveyor before progressing to Associate Partner and more recently to Equity Partner.
Commenting on his appointment, Mark said: “Rapleys has managed the Foundation’s property portfolio for four years and during that time I have developed a strong empathy with this unique organisation. I’ve always been fascinated by its unique financial model, where all the revenue from rents and leases is reinvested for the benefit of the community. The opportunity to join the Foundation and work with the Trustees, Executive Team and talented staff was too strong to resist. I will work hard to ensure the portfolio continues to develop and produce a long term income for current and future generations in Letchworth Garden City.”
The Foundation’s Chief Executive, Graham Fisher, said: “I am delighted that Mark is joining our team on a permanent basis. This is a critical appointment as uniquely the Foundation’s income is almost entirely generated from our property endowment held in Letchworth. Mark’s property management and leadership skills are essential to ensuring that we continue to be a successful landlord able to generate the funds that we use to support our extensive range of culture, heritage and wellbeing services in the town as well as our popular grants programme.”
Mark has worked on a number of large-scale development and regeneration projects, specialising in development, due diligence and dilapidations. He is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and is a graduate of the University of Brighton.
