A local community organisation that supports disability sport has received a minibus from the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation to help more people get active.
The N-Able Disability Sports Association, who bought the minibus from the Heritage Foundation for £1, works with a wide variety of disabled people across Hertfordshire to get involved in a range of sport and activities. The handover was possible after the Foundation received a new minibus from the Community Transport Scheme last month.
Ros Cramp from N-Able Disability Sports Association said: "This minibus will be an excellent resource for the organisation and allows us to continue to provide opportunities for people with disabilities to stay more active and more involved with sport.
“We work with athletes taking part in a wide variety of activities and competitions, from boccia to wheelchair basketball, as well as day services such as setting up accessible cycling opportunities in open spaces including Radwell Meadows. Having this minibus means we can travel further afield to take part.”
Malcolm Arnold, Fleet Manager for Letchworth Heritage Foundation said: “We’re very happy to be able to donate one of our minibuses to a group that does such important work. This minibus has served our community well, transporting local residents to appointments at our Ernest Gardiner Treatment Centre, as well as to local social and community groups across Letchworth. It’s great that the minibus will be able to continue to provide an important service to other residents of Letchworth.”
