Broadway Theatre will host this year’s Herts Jazz Festival on 5-7 October, bringing some of the UK’s finest jazz musicians to the town.
This year marks the first time that the festival has been held outside Welwyn Garden City, and will feature headline sets from Georgie Fame & The Blue Flames, the Joey de Francesco Quartet’s only 2018 UK appearance and A Tribute to Jazz at the Philharmonic across the weekend.
Clark Tracey, Director of Herts Jazz Festival said: “We are really pleased to be able to move the Festival to Letchworth this year. As well as some fantastic music in a great, newly refurbished theatre, festival-goers will be able to experience the vibrant atmosphere of the town – the first Garden City in the world and a centre of the arts and crafts movement – with great places to eat and drink on the doorstep.”
The Festival will also feature screenings of Sherlock Jr, starring Buster Keaton with a live musical accompaniment by Gareth Williams, and Dreams are Free, a documentary on the life and career of Bobby Wellins.
Beth Dawes, Marketing Manager for the Broadway Theatre, said: “The Herts Jazz Festival has a fantastic reputation and we’re delighted to welcome them to Broadway Theatre this year. It’s a great opportunity for local people to come and see some live performances.”
