Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation is thrilled to have exchanged contracts with partners Barratt Redrow North Thames for land at Talbot Way, known as “LG3.” We have worked closely with local stakeholders for several years to plan the LG3 development in line with the North Herts Local Plan and we’re delighted that Barratt Redrow has acquired the land. The masterplan includes up to 120 new homes for Letchworth Garden City, 40% of which will be affordable housing.

The development will bring a great many benefits to the town, both for today’s residents and future families that come to call Letchworth Garden City home. The masterplan specifies a high-quality landscape-led design, representing a contemporary interpretation of Garden City principles, striking the balance between maintaining our heritage and adapting for the modern day. With the environment in mind, the development will result in a minimum of 10% net biodiversity gain and upgrading of the nearby allotments.
In line with our strategic aim of making Letchworth Garden City a great place to grow up, we will soon be sharing exciting news about a training and apprenticeship programme linked to the development, that will give young people the skills and experience to pursue a career in construction and related sectors and the chance to be part of building this exciting new development.
We anticipate work beginning on site mid 2026. You can keep up to date with the development of LG3, and also see the master planning documents and read about the development process so far, at www.letchworth.com/LG3
