Young Team is a project on the look out for people aged 16-24 from Letchworth Garden City, and the surrounding areas, with an interest in a career in the art industry.
Successful applicants will join the Young Team, who will come into Broadway Gallery once a week for two months. Within that time, they will curate a new exhibition for the gallery on a theme of their choosing. Throughout the process, they will be mentored and guided in every aspect of curating an exhibition – from the creative process, through to marketing and promotions, and the physical transporting of art and installation of the exhibition.
As well as receiving expert guidance and mentoring, and the chance to take over the gallery space, members of the Young Team will be paid a fee of £960 for approximately 8 days work in the run up to the exhibition. Curator of Broadway Gallery, Kristian Day, said: “This opportunity is just the kind of thing I’d have grabbed with both hands when I was first starting out – for a young curator to effectively be handed the keys to a gallery, and get paid and mentored, is an invaluable experience. I’m really hoping for a wide and diverse range of applicants for this programme – I can’t wait to get started.”
The Young Team programme will culminate in a public exhibition in the main gallery in July and August 2022. Apply by 1 May 2022.
