A new exhibition and pop-up shop celebrating the Arts & Crafts heritage of Letchworth opens for the festive season, located in the town’s Community Museum
An Arts & Crafts Christmas explores the influence that the Arts & Crafts movement had on Letchworth and includes a variety of hands-on family activities to capture the holiday spirit.
The show includes a special bauble installation, which visitors will be able to decorate, as well as a selection of postcards taken from the Broadway Gallery’s popular postcard exhibition and a festive ‘selfie corner’.
“The Arts & Crafts movement was very important in the history of Letchworth and we wanted to capture some of this stunning design in a Christmas themed exhibition.” said Josh Tidy, curator for the Community Museum.
There will also be a special Christmas shop open in the exhibition, selling a variety of themed Letchworth products, including the new Arts & Crafts themed book produced by Josh and Aimee Flack from the Garden City Collection. There will also be a 2018 calendar of Letchworth postcard images and a new Christmas card, with 10% of proceeds going to Hertfordshire MIND, the Heritage Foundation’s nominated charity for 2017.
An Arts & Crafts Christmas is open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10am-3pm from 1-23 December at the Community Museum, 12-14 The Arcade.
