Goya’s painting – ‘The Third of May 1808’: Today, Thursday. The Arts Society presents a talk about Goya work - the Third of May painted for a Republican government to commemorate the Spanish revolt against the French during the Peninsular Wars – an uprising against Napoleonic rule that led to the birth of modern Spain. Dracula: Friday, November 8 to Saturday, November 9. The Settlement Players present a vampire play in three acts, dramatised by Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston from the novel by Bram Stoker. Remembrance Sunday Service: Sunday, November 10. The Royal British Legion invite you to join them at the Remembrance Sunday Service. They will assemble at the Letchworth Cross War Memorial at 10:30am, the parade will conclude at Letchworth Free Church, Norton Way South. Service starts at 11:30am.
We Remember – Music and Words of Reflection: Sunday, November 10. Join this Remembrance Sunday Service with Pam Rhodes. At St Francis’ College Chapel, Broadway. Starts 3pm. The Royal Naval Association: Monday, November 11. This group provides comradeship, support and welfare assistance to serving and ex-serving members of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Merchant Navy and their families. At Letchworth Rugby Club, Legends Lane, Baldock Road. Every 2nd Monday. Starts 7.30pm. Anyone with an interest in the aims of the association are welcome, to which associate membership is available. Why not come along and enjoy the company of shipmates to “swing the lamp” and take part in planned social events.
Transition Town Tuesday – Edible Cities: Tuesday, November 12. Letchworth Heritage Foundation is a partner in the European Research Funded EdiCitNet Project. The project will provide Letchworth with funding, expertise and learning from other participating cities. In return Letchworth is expected to test ideas for increasing the amount of food grown in our urban environment. Join us for an interactive evening both learning about EdiCitNet and discussing how to make the most of this opportunity. At Mrs Howard Memorial Hall, Norton Way South. From 7.30pm – 9.15pm.
