Living Well with Nature, April 2025

The month of March has flown by and with it the arrival of spring.

While I am loving my role with the Heritage Foundation, I have also enjoyed a week off, cycling around Norfolk. Cycling is a good pace at which to view the rural landscape and witness nature. A highlight occurred during a break to fix a puncture: we were next to an arable field when suddenly a group of six hares rushed through and started running in all directions, celebrating the sheer joy of spring and the warmth of mid-morning sun.

In the last newsletter I spoke of establishing a number of Nature Reserves on Heritage Foundation land. Hillbrow Orchard is to be the first site and during March we began work to remove scrub and maintain the grassland in good condition. Before moving ahead, we would now like to share the Management Plan and hold a public consultation. Please use the links to:

In March. I also spoke about a new Letchworth Nature Group. I am supporting this group to set up, with the hope that it becomes a Letchworth Arts and Leisure Group and so independent of the Foundation. A primary aim is to monitor, learn about and share news on the nature in and around Letchworth. If you would like to learn more and/or become involved, please attend the planning meeting on 10 April.
