The first General grant applications of 2018 were discussed at this month’s committee, with four awards to local groups.
Growing People
We will be supporting Letchworth based mental health charity Growing People for a second year, with a grant of £12,000 to enable the charity to deliver a programme of social and therapeutic horticulture work for adults with mental health issues.
Headway
Headway Hertfordshire works closely with people who have an acquired brain injury, their carers and families; aiming to reduce social isolation, improve health and wellbeing and to give carers a break. The grants committee agreed a grant of £8000 to help fund the role of a support coordinator working within the town.
Whitethorn Lane Bowls Club
£7500 was awarded to Whitethorn Lane Bowls Club to help towards the cost of vital repairs to the green and surrounding pathways.
Herts Cam Network
Herts Cam Network were awarded £7,500 to deliver a project with year 8 students living in the town. Targeting those who are not making the expected levels of progress, this intense intervention project could help 30 students make significant progress in their education. The programme will also provide training for teachers, enabling schools to benefit once the initial programme has finished.
