On Saturday artists at the Fenners Building in Openshaw Way are throwing open the doors to their studios to welcome the public in, as part of Letchworth Festival.
This is a nice chance to meet artists working in Letchworth, talk to them about what they make, how they make it and what it is like to be a working artist. It’s a relaxed and friendly environment where everyone is welcome.
There is a real mix of work being made here, paintings, sculpture, carpets, woven textiles, camera-less photography and ceramics.
All the artists working at The Fenners are fellows of Digswell Arts Trust, who manage the building and support emerging artists in local area. You might recognise some of the artists here from recent exhibitions in Letchworth, Julie Leaming, for example, is currently showing work in The Foyer at the Broadway Gallery. Artists here are also working nationally and internationally; ceramicist Ruta Bartkeviciute was recently named one of the winners of the Liberty Open Call.
In addition to meeting the artists there will be; a selection of their work on show in the exhibition space, demonstrations in the ceramics workshop by pottery students and visitors of all ages can enjoy badge making.
Saturday 16 June 10am – 4pm. Free & Family Friendly.
